How do I filter my social news feed with the new layout?

Question by Matt: How do I filter my social news feed with the new layout?
On the old social layout, there was an option on the left of my home screen to choose to only display postings from individual apps, such as Cafe World. This option appears to have disappeared. Is there still a way to filter the news feed? Perhaps it just takes some getting used to, but currently I found Facebook’s new interface to be a downgrade.

I agree. Much less user-friendly. Here’s your answer from social FAQ:

You can filter your News Feed using the Friends Dashboard. Click on “Friends” in the left navigation column to view your options for filtering the News Feed which include Friend Lists and Status Updates. Simply click on one of these options to see News Feed stories about recent status updates or the friends you’ve added to a certain list.

Edit: This appears to only filter certain friends. I am still looking how to filter by application.
